-Mutations in the BRCA1 (Chromosome #17) and BRCA2 (Chromosome #13) [Tumor Suppressor Genes] are inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern.
-Breast Cancer can be found in both females and males, but it is more common in females.
-One copy of the rearranged gene in a cell is likely to increase a person's chance of developing breast cancer.
-People inherit an increased risk of breast cancer, not the actual disease.
-Not everyone that inherits the mutations of these genes will develop breast cancer.

Symptoms
(caught by yourself or with a mammogram)
-Lump in the breast
-Dimpled skin (like an orange) around the breast area
-Contour and texture of breast changes in any way

Side Effects
(Most come after any type of treatment)
-Loss of appetite
-Nausea and vomiting
-Weakness and fatigue
-Mouth soreness
-Hair loss
-Weight gain
-Premature menopause
-Lowered resistance to infections

Treatment
-Surgery to remove the tumor
-Followed by hormonal treatments: chemotherapy (chemo) or radiotherapy
-Interstitial laser thermotherapy: most efficient method, requires les s surgical processes
-Radiation: destroys cancer cells

-Second most diagnosed cancer, follows lung cancer
-Kills nearly 45,000 women and nearly 400 men in America every year
-200,000 cases are diagnosed every year
-Scientists estimate 12.7% of women born today will be diagnosed with breast cancer
